Regine Goldschmidt, née Strauß

Regine Strauß was born in Geroda near Bad Brückenau on November 20, 1890.

She married Nathan Goldschmidt from Heubach. Nathan Goldschmidt merchandized with cloth (manchester) and textiles. In 1934 the Goldschmidts sold their little house and moved to Bad Brückenau and then on to Fulda on March 2, 1937. On February 13, 1940 they moved to Frankfurt. Their last address was the retirement home Rechneigrabenstraße 18/20. Probably this was a so called “House of Jews” where people who were persecuted as Jews were gathered before they were deported from Frankfurt. On August 18, 1942, Regine Goldschmidt was deported to the transit and concentration camp Theresienstadt at the age of seventy-five.

After her husband had died nine days later she was deported to the extermination camp Treblinka on September 23, 1942. The date of her death is unknown.
